ADFD breaks ground on US$120M Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza in Egypt

EGYPT – The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has begun construction on the AED440 million (US$120 million) Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza, a luxury hospitality project in Egypt.

The new five-star luxury hotel, the Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza, is set to redefine hospitality in Egypt, offering 302 rooms equipped with state-of-the-art amenities.

The property will feature a selection of international restaurants and entertainment facilities, positioning it as a premier destination for luxury travelers.

The project is backed by a strategic partnership between the UAE and Egypt’s private sectors, with Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) financing 84.28% of the capital through Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company (ADTIC).

Other stakeholders include Abu Dhabi National Hotels (10.22%), Overseas Tourism Investment Company (0.4%), Misr Hotels Company (2.73%), and the Egyptian General Company for Tourism & Hotels (2.37%).

Designed to blend Egypt’s rich history with modern luxury, the hotel is expected to enhance the country’s tourism appeal and support its broader economic growth.

Accor Group, a globally renowned hospitality brand, has been selected to manage the property, ensuring world-class service and an exceptional guest experience.

The foundation stone was jointly laid by Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, and Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, in the presence of officials from both nations.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Suwaidi highlighted the significance of the project in strengthening Egypt’s tourism sector, stating, “Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza is a significant step in offering a world-class hospitality experience while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable investments in promising markets.”

He emphasized that through this partnership with Accor, ADFD aims to elevate Egypt’s tourism industry while fostering economic and social development.

Al Najjar echoed this sentiment, noting that the hotel’s strategic location near Egypt’s iconic archaeological sites will attract visitors from around the world and further strengthen the country’s tourism infrastructure.
