The expansion of ibis Styles Sepang KLIA is set to enhance guest experiences and strengthen the hotel’s position as a premier hospitality destination.
MALAYSIA – IKHASAS Group has committed RM90 million (US$2.03 million) to expand its flagship Sepang hotel, catering to the rising demand from both local and international travelers.
The expansion of ibis Styles Sepang KLIA is set to enhance guest experiences and strengthen the hotel’s position as a premier hospitality destination.
According to Tan Chee Kian, Group CEO of iKHASAS Sdn Bhd, the investment will support the addition of new sports facilities and a significant increase in room capacity.
He stated that pre-approval has been secured for 250 additional rooms, with the goal of becoming Sepang’s largest hotel by late 2026, reaching nearly 500 rooms.
Currently, the resort-style property, which opened about a year ago, features 229 rooms.
Previously operating as Concorde Inn KLIA, the hotel is a joint venture between ISY Holdings Sdn Bhd and iKHASAS Group, formalized in 2019 with an initial RM55 million (US$12.4 million) investment for redevelopment and rebranding.
ISY Chairman Tan Sri Syed Mohd Yusof Syed Nasir highlighted that since its official opening in February 2024, the hotel has consistently achieved occupancy rates exceeding 80% each month.
He also emphasized the unique appeal of its 20 biker-themed rooms, designed specifically for motorcycle enthusiasts, noting that the hotel’s proximity to the PETRONAS MotoGP venue enhances its attractiveness to the biking community.
The hotel’s grand opening was a notable event in Malaysia’s hospitality sector, officiated by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and attended by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, along with other royal dignitaries.
Syed Yusof expressed confidence in the hotel’s role in boosting Malaysia’s tourism sector, highlighting its contribution to job creation and economic activity across various industries.
He also underscored the partnership with Accor as a testament to their commitment to raising hospitality standards in Sepang.
Managed by Accor, a global hospitality leader overseeing more than 5,700 properties in over 110 countries, the hotel aligns with the group’s strategic expansion in Malaysia.
Michel Vivier, Accor’s Senior Vice President of Operations for Malaysia and Indonesia, noted the country’s strong market potential, revealing that Accor currently operates 26 hotels in Malaysia.
He announced plans to open Novotel Johor Bahru within six months and confirmed that up to eight additional hotels are set to launch in the next two years, reinforcing Malaysia’s significance in Accor’s regional growth strategy.
