NANTA embraces digital future with new tools unveiled at 49th AGM

NIGERIA – The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) has launched a revamped website, mobile app, and updated ID card during its 49th AGM in Lagos, reinforcing its push to modernize operations and elevate member services through digital innovation.

NANTA’s digital transformation marks a pivotal moment for African travel professionals, offering enhanced accessibility and functionality for both stakeholders and the general public.

The newly launched mobile app provides users with convenient access to NANTA resources on the go, while the redesigned website features a more intuitive interface, streamlining access to vital information and services.

Additionally, the introduction of upgraded identification cards not only enhances security but also strengthens the professional credibility of NANTA members, reinforcing transparency and trust within the industry.

The transformation has wider implications for both tourism and the hospitality industry in Nigeria and across Africa.

By digitising processes and improving visibility, NANTA is laying the groundwork for greater efficiency, data transparency, and collaboration between travel agents, hotels, tour operators, and government institutions.

This digital shift enables smarter service delivery, better guest experiences, and stronger oversight, all of which are essential for a more competitive hospitality and tourism ecosystem.

These advancements were unveiled at NANTA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), themed “Collective Prosperity Through Market Protection.”

The event attracted a large turnout of travel agents, hospitality executives, aviation leaders, and government officials, including Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo.

The gathering underscored the importance of partnership-driven strategies in propelling Africa’s travel and hospitality sectors forward.

A central issue addressed was the threat of cross-border ticket trading.

NANTA President Yinka Folami highlighted how international agents illegally sell tickets originating from Nigeria while retaining profits abroad—an activity that has eroded nearly 40% of the local travel market and undermined both data protection and regulatory compliance.

NANTA has launched investigations into five such agencies and pledged to prosecute violators. The association also warned local agents against involvement in these illegal practices, stressing the consequences of economic sabotage.

Minister Keyamo, represented by FAAN’s Director of Special Duties, Henry Agbebire, praised NANTA’s initiatives and reaffirmed the government’s support for its ethical and structural reforms.

By embracing technology and ethical leadership, NANTA is not only strengthening Nigeria’s travel sector but also creating ripple effects across the broader hospitality industry.

The association’s efforts offer a blueprint for transparent, innovative, and sustainable growth across Africa’s tourism value chain.
